Your gift of $250 would fund a local author showcase.

Your gift of $100 gift would fund one early childhood literacy learning kit to distribute to a home-based day care.

Your gift of $50 will fund one story hour for disadvantaged youth, complete with activities.

Imagine the rich and varied impact these programs will have upon the Indianapolis community. The Library is prepared to serve as the local community's learning for a lifetime hub by expanding its early childhood literacy outreach, lifelong learning initiatives, and cultural programs. To make this vision a reality, the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation seeks your help. By investing in effective and flexible programs, private donors to the Learning for a Lifetime campaign will assure that the Indianapolis community has the programs and services to help individuals and the community thrive.

Your gift can be designated to support:
  • Early Childhood Literacy
  • Community and Cultural Programs
  • Lifelong Learning
  • Your Branch
  • The Foundation’s Endowment
Gifts designated to the endowment will go into a permanent endowment at the Central Indiana Community Foundation - creating a legacy for future generations. Money raised will be invested and the earnings will be spent annually to fund three key initiatives. The endowment will be permanently restricted to funding Library programs which further children's literacy, lifelong learning, and cultural and community programming.

Help Us Meet the Challenge

The Imagine Campaign has been awarded challenge grants by the Central Indiana Community Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities that will increase the impact of gifts from other donors.

The first $2.4 million in gifts will be matched by the Central Indiana Community Foundation - for every $2 given by June 30, 2008, CICF will match it with $1. Donors who direct their gift to the cultural and community programming endowment will trigger additional matching funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities. NEH will match every $3 the Foundation places in the CICF endowment by June 30, 2008 with $1 (up to the first $900,000 raised).

Your support will enable the Library to expand its service to the community and will assure that resources are available each year in perpetuity to meet the needs and opportunities in the critical areas of early childhood literacy, lifelong learning, and cultural programs. Your gift will have a lasting impact and will help assure a healthy, engaged and strong community. With your support the library will truly be Indianapolis' home for Learning for a Lifetime.
