Learning for a LifetimeSuccess of Phase I of the Imagine CampaignIn Phase I of the Imagine campaign, the Foundation raised funds for the expansion and renovation of the Central Library. The original building, even with the 1960s addition, was simply too small to meet the needs of the community. The renovation and expansion will bring the historic facility back to its former glory and provide for expansion, new technology, and growth. Our goal was to raise $43 million for the new Central. We reached that goal thanks to our donors, including a generous $25 million challenge grant from the Lilly Endowment. A volunteer committee led our fundraising efforts. Chairman J. Al Smith, Jr. was joined by Julie H. Goodrich, Michael S. Maurer, and Thomas A. King. Other committee members included Mike Alley, Katie Betley, Bob Brody, Lorene Burkhart, Carmen DeRusha, Lori Efroymson, David Goodrich, Patty Hefner, David Knall, Bill Moreau, and Tom Sams. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. |
